Many Roads to the White House Jewelry

from $45.00

ABOUT THIS PATTERN:

In the late 1920’s newspapers around the country printed regular quilt features to satisfy reader requests. Patterns were typically featured on Saturdays and then again on the following Wednesday. They included scale patterns ready to be cut out, pinned and were free for public use.

Created by Mrs. Millie Kolling of Chapman, Kansas, “Many Roads to the White House” was first published in the Kansas City Star on August 17, 1955.

While this pattern has a tangible point of origin, the scope of its title continues to expand. For example when it was first published in the Kansas City Star, Dwight Eisenhower was president. Fifty-three years later America elected her first African American president, and ten years later a record number of women, minorities and people from underserved populations won seats in national and local elections.

I offer Many Roads to the White House in the Women's Work jewelry line as a pattern to champion diversity in the American political process.
